Over the past few years Kenya has grown as a popular tourist destination, with visitors coming from all over the world – an estimated 1.8 million holiday makers are thought to visit the east African nation yearly.

After tea exports, tourism is the second largest source of foreign income for this east African nation. This industry which generates more than $1 billion annually has received several blows following last week’s terror attack on an upscale mall frequented by foreigners.

Earlier this year in the mountainous Aberdare national Park, a plane crashed claiming the lives of three Swiss nationals.
