{"id":59258,"date":"2022-03-17T15:13:20","date_gmt":"2022-03-17T19:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zegabi.com\/articles\/?p=59258"},"modified":"2022-03-17T15:13:20","modified_gmt":"2022-03-17T19:13:20","slug":"ethiopia-to-repatriate-more-than-35-000-citizens-from-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.zegabi.com\/articles\/59258","title":{"rendered":"Ethiopia to repatriate more than 35, 000 citizens from Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ethiopia set to repatriate more than 35, 000 citizens from in Saudi Arabia.\u00a0 All the 35,000 migrants have been registered for repatriation,according to\u00a0 Ethiopia&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The government recently announced a repatriation plan to bring back over 100,000 Ethiopians from the Gulf Nation until end of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>So far, \u201cmore than 35 thousand Ethiopians in Saudi Arabia have registered to get back home,\u201d Ambassador Dina Mufti, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a press briefing on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Preparations to bring them back from Saudi Arabia have been finalized, said Ambassador Dina.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the recent drop in illegal migration, reports say many from the East Africa region in general and Ethiopia in particular risk their lives making the dangerous journey via Yemen in the hope of finding jobs in Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Most, however, end up either stranded in Yemeni or Saudi Arabia\u2019s detention centers due to illegal entry.<\/p>\n<p>Official estimates put the total number of Ethiopians residing in Saudi Arabia to be 750,000.
