{"id":55948,"date":"2022-01-24T14:30:07","date_gmt":"2022-01-24T19:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zegabi.com\/articles\/?p=55948"},"modified":"2022-01-24T14:30:07","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T19:30:07","slug":"tplf-launches-new-offensive-captures-new-areas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.zegabi.com\/articles\/55948","title":{"rendered":"TPLF launches new offensive, captures new areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\":rh\" class=\"Ar Au Ao\">\n<div id=\":rd\" class=\"Am Al editable LW-avf tS-tW tS-tY\" role=\"textbox\" aria-label=\"Message Body\">\n<p>The Tigray People\u2019s Liberation Front (TPLF) launched another attack and captured some areas in Ethiopia\u2019s Afar and Amhara regional states.<\/p>\n<p>The fresh attack came nearly a month after the federal forces suspended fighting upon the order of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in an attempt to end the 14-month conflict peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>Residents are fleeing Raya areas to neighboring towns as the TPLF forces with alleged strength of 100,000 troops are pushing southward.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigrayan forces also have been accused of kidnapping more than 500 civilians, largely young people. The whereabouts of the captives have been yet known.<\/p>\n<p>TPLF also has continued firing heavy artillery on Kilbetiresu, Meglle and Abaala towns in Afar regional state, killing undisclosed number of civilians and inflicting heavy property damage.<\/p>\n<p>According to the information obtained from TPLF troops who surrendered to the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, TPLF is mobilizing the Tigray people for all-out-war to establish an independent nation.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigrayan forces reportedly built deep fortifications in Megalle of Afar and Timuga of\u00a0 Amhara regions for a massive offensive.<\/p>\n<p>TPLF leaders allegedly lost hope to resolve the conflict peacefully after Addis Ababa demanded them to disengage their troops and hand over\u00a0 arms before any kind of negotiation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tigray People\u2019s Liberation Front (TPLF) launched another attack and captured some areas in Ethiopia\u2019s Afar and Amhara regional states.
